You’ll need:

  • non-toxic gold spray paint
  • champagne flutes or wine glasses
  • painters tape
  • plastic or ziplock bag
Rip off a 6 inch piece of tape. Center the tape over the base of the glassware, rubbing the bottom edge against the glass. Pull the sides up at a slight angle. As long as the bottom edge is taped smoothly, it’s alright if the top edge of the tape ripples or folds.
Bring one side of the tape across the middle of the glass. Although the spray paint I used is non-toxic, I tried to keep the outline far below the lip line.
Bring the other side of the tape across so the two pieces meet at a point. Tape on a ziplock or plastic bag while still exposing the bottom edge of the tape.
Lightly spray multiple and even coats of paint onto the glass from a couple feet away. Be sure to always spray paint outdoors in a well ventilated area. Allow to dry completely before removing the bag and tape.
Your gold plated champagne flutes are finished! Remember, these are not dishwasher safe and should be hand washed only.

DIY Gold Dipped Glassware

Tuesday, 3 May 2016

You’ll need:

  • flat interior paint
  • a stencil
  • a dense foam roller with rounded ends
  • a stippling brush
  • painter’s tape
  • paint tray
  • paper towels
Start masking out the baseboard and ceiling of the wall with painter’s tape. Make sure the wall is clean and dust free. Then, pour a small amount of paint into a paint tray. Tape the stencil onto the middle of the wall. Load the foam roller by rolling it in the paint and back and forth in the tray until it is evenly saturated.
Blot off excess paint onto a folded paper towel. There should be no visible paint on the roller surface – the less paint, the better!
Using light pressure, roll over the stencil with the roller. Excessive pressure and too much paint will cause paint to bleed under the stencil.
Continue to add light layers and check the work by carefully lifting a corner of the stencil from the wall. Replace the stencil and fill in any missed areas with a stippling brush using a blotting motion. The stippling brush can always be used in place of a roller for smaller executions. It’s as easy as blotting in an up and down motion with a minimal amount of paint on the brush.
To continue the pattern, simply line up the stencil with a previously painted row. To paint the bottom and top edges of the wall, bend the stencil and blot with the brush.
Allow the paint to dry completely before hanging any artwork on the wall. See how fun it is to create an accent wall?

DIY Stenciled Wall

I couldn’t wait to try this. Who knew it would be such an easy way to add color and pattern to your next tablescape or party? Remember, the brighter and bolder colors you use, the more the glasses will radiate and glow.

You’ll need:

  • flat bottomed glassware
  • variety of colorful nail polish
  • clear nail polish
  • a disposable plastic container
  • nail polish remover
  • painters tape
  • toothpicks
Mask off the bottom of the glass with painters tape.
Fill a disposable, plastic container with water. Open all the nail polish bottles and start dripping polish into the water, one color at a time.
Layer the colors one on top of the other. Take a toothpick and pull out the polish to create a swirly pattern, starting from the center. Work quickly as the polish will start to harden and clump up over time.
Submerge the bottom of the glass into the polish. Allow the polish to collect around the sides of the glass and pull out carefully. Little air bubbles may form but that is to be expected! Before marbling the next glass, take a clean toothpick and sweep up any excess polish from the water.
Allow to dry completely before applying a layer of clear polish.
Once everything has dried, remove the painters tape and touch up with nail polish remover and a cotton swab.
Your glowing glasses are finished! Glassware should be hand washed only.

DIY Cute Petal Pictorial

If you fold the nibs on the back to the inside you could also glue the studs on. Of course you could also buy studs with a flat back for this purpose. Today I have a fun studded picture frame DIY for you. I hope you like it!

WHAT YOU NEED

– studs
– glue gun
– brush
– white acrylic paint
– simple white picture frame or a colour of your choice

HOW TO MAKE THIS

1. Get your materials together. If you have studs with a flat back you can now go directly to step 3.
2. Fold the nubs of the studs flat. You can do this with a pair of pliers.

3. Paste the studs with your glue gun on the picture frame.
4. Paint the studs with a thin layer of white paint.
5. When the paint is dry, scratch of a little bit of the paint with your fingernail. This way a little bit of the silver from the studs will show again.

Cute isn't it?

DIY Studded Picture Frame

What you need:
– coasters
– scraps of faux leather in two colors. Don’t use real leather on this project. Real leather can get stained from water too!
– textile glue
– scissors
– small piece of cardboard or paper
– pen
 How to:

1. Find some coasters with cork backing an a smooth and hard front.
2. Cut out a small triangle from your cardboard or paper and trace around this on your faux leather. Lay down your coasters on top of it to decide how many triangles you need. If you have 4 coasters you need to be able to cover two of them entirely with triangles in one color.
3. Cut out all of your little leather triangles.
4. Put glue on the smooth surface of your coasters. Use your fingers or a brush to even it out.
5. Glue down all the little triangles on the coasters.
6. When the glue is completely dry you can cut around the coaster to create a clean edge.
7. Your coasters are ready to be used!

DIY Leather Triangle Coasters

I have quite a collection of empty candle jars. I can’t just throw them away, so here is a project to repurpose them into a glitter colorblock vase:

1. Gather your supplies: a burnt out candle, glitter, Mod Podge, painter’s tape, a paint or foam brush, rhinestones, and glue (not pictured).
2. Either melt the candle on a candle warmer or in a saucepan full of simmering water. You also could pop out the wax with a spoon. Pour the melted wax into an unwanted plastic/glass container.
3. Remove all labels and tape off part of your jar with painter’s tape. Rub down any edges to avoid your Mod Podge bleeding through.
4. Cover your jar with your first layer of Mod Podge.
5. Pour glitter all that baby. Place a paper or mat on your work surface so you can later pour your leftover glitter back into its container.
6. Allow to set for a few minutes and repeat with a second layer of Mod Podge and glitter.
7. Allow to dry completely and remove your painter’s tape.
8. If you have messy edges, just scratch off the imperfections with your fingernail. Super or hot glue rhinestones onto your jar.
9. Fill your sparkly vase with fake/fresh flowers, twigs, pens, makeup brushes, etc.

DIY Repurposed Candle Jar

What you need:
  • Old crayons
  • Small juice glasses
  • Wax
  • Wicks
  • Dixie cup (or any paper cup)
  • Popsicle sticks for stirring
  • Microwave or any available heater
  • Knife
How to:
The first step is to peel the paper off the crayons, you can use the knife or soak crayons in water for easy peeling.

Next, fill a Dixie cup with wax and microwave for a minute. Give it a stir and microwave it in 30-second interval until wax is completely melted. Pour a thin layer of wax at the bottom of each juice glasses and place the candlewick to the centre. Let harden.
Using one crayon per colour, fill a dixie cup with wax and top up with a broken up crayon. Microwave for a minute and then in 30-second interval until completely liquified. Let cool for 30seconds and pour cooled wax in to the juice glass. Let the first layer dry for 20 - 30 minutes.
Repeat this process and continue to pour different colour layers of wax into the juice glass, making sure to let them dry between each layer.

This project would make great gifts or party favors.
